The Commission co-organised with the Council of Europe the second coordination meeting on combating hatred and racism against Muslims, to be held on 13 and 14 March 2025.  The event brings together a wide range of stakeholders from EU Member States, the Council of Europe, Canada, New Zealand, international organisations, EU agencies and the media. Participants will discuss the key issue of terminology: find the most effective language to describe and combat anti-Muslim hatred. The role of the media in shaping public perceptions and measures to avoid normalisation of anti-Muslim narratives will also be highlighted, with a focus on identifying innovative solutions and sharing best practices to counter this trend. The event was opened by Magnus Brunner, Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration. On 14 March, Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, will participate with a video message, highlighting the Commission’s commitment to this vital cause.
