In Egypt, the workforce of tomorrow will have access to market-relevant training opportunities, thanks to a new culinary arts and kitchen workshop launched with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD) at the German Hotel School in El Gouna.

At the German Hotel School in El Gouna, the new training unit, funded by the EBRD’s Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Multi-Donor Account(SEMED MDA)*, will focus on culinary skills and is expected to combine the teaching of theory with hands-on experience.

The EBRD and SFSD, with donor support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), will also work together to offer more services and new specialisations at the school, promote careers for young women in the tourism sector, raise awareness of gender inclusion and support the governance of the German Hotel School.

Egypt is a founding member of the EBRD. Since the start of the Bank’s operations there in 2012, the EBRD has invested more than €8 billion in 137 projects in the country.
