On 4 March, AHoM Karin Limdal met with the General Director of Palestinian Civil Police, Maj. Gen. Yousef Al-Helou. The joint visit to Betlehem later during the week to monitor joint project activities was agreed .They discussed the cooperation with EUPOL COPPS and other international partners in the view of next meeting of the Security Sector Working Group.
General Al-Helou underlined that the PCP needs specific training to create what he referred to as “the comprehensive police officer” and welcomed the support from the Misssion in this regard. The EUPOL COPPS team required about the Government’s reform agenda specifically on the early retirement moving away from lifetime appointments and how this can be sustainably financed.
