The EU election observation mission in Tunisia (MOE UE) published a release on 3 October, an extract of which is given below:

“As the election campaign for the second round of the presidential elections is starting, the EU election observation mission in Tunisia (MOE UE) expresses its hope that the conditions of this second round will allow the Tunisian citizens to fully express their sovereign choice.

While reaffirming its strict respect of the independence of the judiciary, the MOE UE considers that the candidate Nabil Karoui must be able to campaign within the framework of equal opportunities with the candidate Kais Saied, as stipulated by the Tunisian law and the international commitments on elections.

The MOE UE reminds the candidates, their teams and their militants of the importance of conducting a transparent campaign, free of tensions and false information, on the field, in the traditional media and on social media. The Mission also calls the media to cover the campaign in a balanced and impartial way.”
