EU-funded PPRD South 3 is attending the 4th Arab Partnership Meeting for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) that is taking place on 9-10 December 2019 in Cairo, Egypt.

Organised by the UNDRR regional office for Arab States, this bi-annual Arab Partnership for DRR meetings aim to create a forum for technical and operational deliberation on the progress, challenges and gaps in the implementation of the Sendai Framework in the region and to inform the deliberations of the Arab Regional Platform conferences.

For this meeting, the Sendai Focal points of all Arab countries have been invited to review the progress made in the implementation of the Prioritized Action Plan 2018-2020 of the Arab Strategy for DRR 2030. The meeting is focusing on stakeholder’s engagement and progress in implementing their voluntary commitments made during the Africa-Arab Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Tunis. In addition to the follow-up on the progress of the implementation of the Voluntary Action Statements and of the Sendai framework, the objective is also to identify innovative solutions towards the climate risk management.
The overall objective of EU-funded PPRD South 3 is to contribute to increasing resilience and reducing the social, economic and environmental costs of natural and man-made disasters in the ENP South region, based on the results of the PPRD South Program and the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).
