The 3rd Joint Committee under the EU-Morocco Fisheries Partnership Agreement (2014-2018) met last week in Rabat, Morocco to evaluate the second year of implementation of the agreement. The Committee examined both the fishing activities of the EU fleet and the implementation of the support provided by the EU to the fishing sector in Morocco.

The outcome is positive on both counts. Both the EU and Morocco are satisfied with the use of fishing opportunities available and 74% of the support funds allocated to the sector have been employed and oriented towards common goals.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with the good progress of the agreement. They agreed and introduced new measures to make fishing operations more efficient and will work for a better compliance with compulsory landings. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
