EUBAM Libya Trains Libyan Customs Officers in Risk Assessment Techniques

EUBAM Libya’s experts conducted a 5-day training for 14 officers of the Libyan Customs Authority (LCA) on effective Risk Assessment. Faced with the constant growth of traffic at their international borders, Libyan authorities strive to ensure a smooth flow of passengers and cargo while maintaining levels of controls apt to prevent illegal cross-border movements. the right balance can be achieved by adopting a risk-managed approach to the processing of cargo and travelers for better border control in the customs field.
The EUBAM training focused on methodologies for accurate threat assessment and identification of risks and their minimization through a proper targeting of the shipments.
This training will enhance the level of efficiency at the LCA to identify the security risks during border controls on trade and passenger flow.
As per its philosophy and vision, EUBAM activities always underline the importance of effective cooperation of Border Management Agencies together with the prioritization of combatting cross-border crime and respecting human rights.
