Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met with António Vitorino, Director General of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), in the wake of the annual EU-IOM Senior Officials meeting.
They reaffirmed the close cooperation between the EU and the IOM on migration matters, and the key role of IOM in shaping a UN response to migratory challenges.
They discussed the worrying situation in Libya and the work delivered by the joint African Union-European Union-United Nations Task Force to protect migrants in the country.
