What are the benefits of international and regional migration dialogues such as the Khartoum Process, the Rabat Process, and EUROMED Migration? What are the roles and responsibilities of the National Focal Points to the migration dialogues? How do you draft a statement in preparation for a dialogue meeting? These were some of the topics addressed during the ICMPD training with officials and trainers from the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Mansour Rashid Al-Kikhia Institute for Diplomatic Studies.

The objective of the two-day training was therefore to equip the Libyan officials with the relevant knowledge and skills to prepare them for the successful participation to a dialogue meeting.

The training focused among others on the history of migration dialogues, the benefits of migration dialogues for international cooperation, and the various international and regional migration dialogues of relevance for Libya. The participants also benefitted from interventions by the secretariats of the Khartoum Process, the Rabat Process, and EUROMED Migration.

The interactive training also offered the opportunity to practice a number of practical skills such as drafting talking points and a statement, delivering a three-minute statement, and how to prepare for a meeting on a thematic topic.
