Executive Vice-President, Frans Timmermans, visits Morocco to sign the first green partnership agreement

On 18 and 19 October, Frans Timmermans, the Executive Vice-President responsible for the European Green Deal, visited Rabat, Morocco, to sign a green partnership agreement on energy, the climate and the environment between the European Union and the Kingdom of Morocco. They jointly announced their intention to establish this partnership in June 2021 in order to strengthen their cooperation in combating climate change and will work together to advance their energy transition to protect the environment and stimulate the green economy.

Following the green alliance with Japan, announced during the EU-Japan summit in May 2021, the green partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco is the first partnership signed as part of the green deal.
