The Lebanese American University inaugurated on Saturday 29 October the first Model European Union for High School students at its campus in Byblos. This student simulation leadership programme targets High School students from all over Lebanon.

The programme comprises training sessions on how the EU institutions function, on creative negotiations, on effective public relations, on research and rules of procedure, as well as role play and mock simulations.

In her speech, the Head of EU Delegation, Ambassador Christina Lassen, addressed the students that will be taking part in the activities of the programme by saying: “Model EU is for the next generation that will be responsible for this country, this region, this world. For the future generation of journalists, politicians, diplomats, officials, and decision makers. And even though it seems unlikely today, we hope that you will one day be working on strengthening regional integration and cooperation in the Middle East.”(EU Neighbourhood Info)
