Libya: European Union Ambassador Bugeja presents his credentials to PC President Serraj

Ambassador Alan Bugeja, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Libya, presented in Tripoli his letters of credence to H.E. Faiez Mustafa Serraj, President of the Presidency Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) of Libya.

Ambassador Bugeja received a warm welcome by President Serraj, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohammad Sialla, as well as the Ministry’s Director for European Affairs, Mr. Hagi Dhan, and updated him on the progress towards the gradual return of the EU Delegation to Tripoli. He reiterated the importance of building a strong partnership between Europe and Libya, based on longstanding political, cultural and economic links.

Alan Bugeja took up his new position on 1 September 2018. A Maltese national, he has worked 27 years as a career diplomat for his country as well as for the European Commission.
