The Council of Europe has released a video to explain its approach on cybercrime and electronic evidence and the fields of action of its latest capacity building programme, CyberSouth.
The video explains that societies are increasingly dependent on information and communication technologies. But unfortunately, new technologies create cybercrime, i.e. offences against and by means of computer systems.
The video warns that millions of attacks against computer systems and data are recorded daily, and that many crimes may entail evidence on a computer system. It informs on the international treaties and conventions signed in this field and the Council of Europe’s approach to counter cybercrime. It concludes with a brief presentation of the project and its objectives.
CyberSouth is a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe. It contributes to the prevention and control of cybercrime and other offences involving electronic evidence in the region of the Southern Neighbourhood, in line with international human rights and rule of law standards and good practices.
