U-SOLVE in Egypt selects its final five winning projects related to urban development

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egyptian partner of U-SOLVE, announced that five teams won the U-SOLVE project subgrant after overcoming a strong competition to present their innovative projects in the areas of urban development to serve the goals of sustainable development in Alexandria Governorate and neighboring governorates.

 

U-SOLVE project subgrant was announced in order to provide solutions and projects to sustainable development challenges in Egypt in the field of blue infrastructure, urban food system, sustainable energy, waste management. 52 projects applied to participate in the subgrant and qualified for the first step of the grant and 32 projects completed the capacity building program, which included 11 sessions on various topics related to entrepreneurship and project building, such as business model planning and business revenue model, design thinking and creative thinking, market research and market segmentation.

 

11 teams applied for the second step of the grant and met the conditions for establishing their own company in the governorates and regions agreed upon to implement the project, and seven teams were able to advance to the pitching day to compete among themselves by pitching their projects and their innovative solutions.

 

The competition was evaluated by a committee from various sectors, and the result was settled with five teams winning the U-SOLVE project grant, which is estimated at 10.000 euros, to enable them to continue developing and implementing their solutions, and to contribute to the comprehensive progress of sustainable urban development.
