Tunisia15 grants awarded to civil society organisations in Tunisia, Libya, Palestine and Jordan through WEGOV! project
A total of 15 grants have been awarded to 15 civil society organisations in Tunisia, Libya, Palestine and Jordan following the call for proposals launched last December by the EU-funded project WEGOV!
The objective of the call is to finance pilot projects, presented by local associations and networks and to be developed in the four countries of the project, with the aim to promote direct participation of CSOs and the elaboration of specific practices, as a result of the work in capacity-building brought forth until now.
The sectors of intervention of the initiatives are multiple: good governance and protection of rights; election monitoring; increasing participation of women in policy-making; promoting the participation of youth in policy-making.
WEGOV! is a three year project co-funded by the European Commission and implemented by GVC and its partners with the aim of strengthening the involvement of CSOs in the reform policy processes and improving their role as watchdog through an integrated programme of capacity building. It also seek to support CSOs to contribute in and influence the creation of a post-2015 development agenda in the four countries where the project is implemented (Jordan, Libya, Palestine, Tunisia) andthat show low scores in terms of governance indicators, and specifically voice and accountability and government effectiveness.
