EU Ambassador to Egypt Christian Berger visited Assiut University, where he spoke to a group of over 300 students about the history of the EU, EU institutions and EU-Egypt relations. He also participated in a workshop with students on scholarships and work opportunities in the EU, such as the education exchange programme Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation and the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA), an EU program for Research and Innovation solutions in the Mediterranean region.

After the workshops, the Ambassador inaugurated an art exhibition produced by the Photography Department of Assiut, with an abundance of talent on display. Subsequently, the Ambassador met with the President of the University, Ahmed El Minshawy. They discussed expanding practical collaboration in the fields of technical education and sustainable development.

As an expert from the university aptly stated, “ sustainability is not just something to learn, it’s something to live” and the EU is determined to pursue its ambitious goals for a climate neutral EU by 2050 and to support climate related action throughout the world, hand in hand with partners such as Assiut University
