The staff of the EU-funded project “The Coalition for Social Justice in Urban Renewal” of “Bimkom” organization spoke at a hearing about the need to improve the impact of public participation in urban renewal planning during the Knesset’s Urbanism Day.
The overall objective of the project is to establish a ‘Coalition for Social Justice in Urban Renewal’ including professional, academic and grassroots organisations in order to advance socio-economic considerations in urban renewal and to ensure adequate, suitable and affordable housing for Israel’s vulnerable citizens.
Bimkom was established in 1999 by planners and architects with the vision of strengthering the connection between the planning system and human rights. Bimkom promotes equality and social justice in planning, development and allocation of land resources.
