From 19 to 21 March, the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators (MEDREG) Secretariat met with important Jordanian energy players including MEDREG’s Member EMRC, the EU delegation to Jordan and other governmental, business and institutional organisations.

The visit to the Jordanian regulator EMRC on 19 March aimed at getting acquainted with EMRC’s working priorities to accommodate them in MEDREG’s work.

The following day, the MEDREG Secretariat participated in the RES4MED workshop which allowed the development of proactive dialogue with the local institutions, the most relevant stakeholders of the Jordanian energy market and several international companies and institutions.

The MEDREG delegation, accompanied by Med-TSO Secretary General Angelo Ferrante, also met with Mr. Omar Abu-Eid, Programme Manager for Energy, Environment and Climate Change at the EU Delegation to Jordan. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen relations with the Delegation, exchange on the latest energy developments in Jordan and ask for possible topics on which MEDREG and Med-TSO could focus in the future.

MEDREG, which benefits from the European Union’s financial support, brings together 25 regulators from 21 countries, spanning the European Union (EU), the Balkans and North Africa. Mediterranean regulators work together to promote greater harmonization of the regional energy markets and legislations, seeking progressive market integration in the Euro-Mediterranean basin. Through constant cooperation and information exchange among members, MEDREG aims at fostering consumer rights, energy efficiency, infrastructure investment and development, based on secure, safe, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable energy systems.
