A Moroccan Federation of Community Radios has been set up at a meeting in Marrakech on 18-19 February, with the support of an EU-funded project for the strengthening of community radio in Morocco.
The meeting brought together about 50 representatives of community radios and organisations lobby for freedom of expression in Morocco.
The Federation aims to provide legal advocacy for the recognition and promotion of community radios, better coordination between alternative media in Morocco, stronger capacities for community radios, stronger cooperation between community and alternative media at regional and international levels, and an overall contribution to fundamental freedoms and the right to information.
