EUBAM Libya organised an Advanced level training on open-source investigation techniques for Libyan officers from several national law enforcement agencies, among others the Libyan Counter Terrorism Centre (LCTC), the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) and the General Administration of Anti-Narcotics (ANGA).  The training was organized to deepen the knowledge of the participants who had already learned basic online investigation techniques in the previous training organized by EUBAM Libya in August 2023.

In this training, the participants gathered advanced-level skills in open-source intelligence through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises. The officer received step-by-step guidance on using different kinds of tools and technologies for online investigations. They were guided on how this information can be analyzed and used in practice in investigations targeting cross-border crime.

EUBAM Libya Senior Organized Crime Advisor Vincenzo Cardinale, the person in charge of organizing the training, highlighted the importance of online investigation skills: “We know that investigations are becoming more complex as terrorist and organized criminal groups are becoming more sophisticated in their modus operandi. Global policing must evolve with the changing threats in today’s digital age. EUBAM Libya contributes to enhancing the capacity of the relevant Libyan law enforcement agencies to respond to these new challenges”.
