Launch of the second call for projects of the Interreg NEXT MED programme in Tunisia

Today was held an information day on the launch of the second call for projects of the Interreg NEXT MED cross-border cooperation program of the European Union. With a budget of 83 million euros, this second call for projects concerns the green transition. 20% of the budget (16 million euros) is exclusively reserved for young people under 35.

 

The themes covered concern common challenges to which the countries bordering the Mediterranean are exposed, namely climate change, adaptability and resilience, the blue, green and circular economy as well as environmental culture. The day was an opportunity to provide interested organizations with the knowledge and resources needed to master the rules, criteria and submission processes of the call for projects, including explanations on the terms of reference of the call for projects and detailed information on the eligibility and financial rules.

 

HE Mr. Gisueppe Perrone, EU Ambassador to Tunisia, welcomed Tunisia’s active and sustained participation in this program, referring to the rich common past between the two shores of the Mediterranean. He also announced the new Pact for the Mediterranean that the European Union has launched to highlight the importance of this common space, as well as the appointment of a Commissioner for the Mediterranean.
