EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini said the EU would appeal the European Court of Justice’s ruling of 10 December annulling the EU-Morocco Trade Agreement. “Our international commitments will be respected” said Mogherini at the 13th session of the EU-Morocco Association Council held yesterday in Brussels.

The EU confirmed its commitment to its partnership with Morocco, and as part of the review of the European Neighbourhood Policy, it expressed the will to strengthen and expand cooperation with Morocco on the basis of common values, including democracy, the rule of law and fundamental freedoms.

The Association Council allowed the EU to review the main areas of common interest where the EU cooperates with Morocco, including migration, security and the fight against terrorism. It also gave the opportunity to discuss, at high political level, the many regional issues of common interest such as regional integration, Libya, Syria and the Sahel. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
