Algeria’s relevant strategy to progress towards its objectives of economic growth and sustainable development was welcomed by Mr Stefano Corrado of the DG-EU in Algeria at the online launch of the WES activity on circular economy and entrepreneurship on 16 September 2021.

Recognising the importance of creating a critical mass of well-trained young entrepreneurs to strengthen the circular economy and green entrepreneurship in Algeria and in response to the request of the Ministry of the Environment and the relevant national stakeholders, the WES project will provide an academic course for the “training of instructors”, starting with university teachers and young students on green entrepreneurship and circular economics from the Faculty of Technology at the University of Boumerdes (Department of Process Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering), acting as a pilot.

Through the collaboration of the WES project with the National Conservatory of Environmental Training (CNFE) and the University of Boumerdes, a national university training network should be developed on the green and circular economy, which is also closely linked to sustainable consumption and production.

The WES project in Southern Neighbourhood countries in the Mediterranean aims to protect the environment and improve the management of scarce water resources in the Mediterranean region.

It addresses problems related to pollution prevention and the rational use of water.
