EU and Tunisia launch Youth Partnership

EU High Representative Federica Mogherini met yesterday with Beji Caid Essebsi, during the first visit of a Tunisian President to the European institutions. The two sides announced the launch of the EU-Tunisia Partnership, dedicated to youth, a common vision wanted by both sides for the future of Tunisia and Europe.

 
This meeting is a central political step in the process of strengthening the Privileged Partnership and the strategic relationship between the EU and Tunisia.
 
“Already EUR 400 million are available for Tunisian youth, for education, employment and mobility,” said the High Representative. “There is a commitment on the part of the European Union to allow 1.500 young Tunisians per year to come to Europe and within the European Union with the Erasmus + programme for students. We prepared this initiative together with the President, to invest in the Tunisian youth. “
 
The financial commitment of the European Union towards Tunisia could reach up to an additional EUR 600 million for the period 2017-2020.
