On 25-26 January Interact Programme together with TESIM (Technical Support to the Implementation and Management of ENI CBC programmes) gathered Interreg, IPA (Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance) and ENI CBC (European Neighbourhood Instrument Cross-Border Cooperation) programmes into the online event “Improving Synergies across the Mediterranean for post 2020″ to discuss the challenges and agree on types of actions to carry out.

With 21 Interreg programmes acting across the Mediterranean region, it is important to avoid overlapping and ensure efficient use of public funds in the future programming period.

Three parallel sessions (West/Center/East Mediteranean regions) allowed the participants to exchange opinions on the specific common challenges of the areas and translate them into the practical coordination activities.

Creating inter-programme joint task forces; converging into a unique capitalisation strategy; sharing data, outcomes and approaches; creating networking events where projects can share experience and scale their initiatives: These were some of the ideas emerging from the discussions.
