EU-funded SAFEMED IV takes part in the Union for the Mediterranean regional event on maritime transport

From 11 to 13 June 2019, EU-funded SAFEMED IV participated in the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Platform on Transport Connectivity and Working Groups on Maritime Transport in Barcelona, Spain. The European Maritime Safety Agency presented the achievements of the SAFEMED IV project in the past months and was positively received by the entire UfM Community present at the meeting.
Nine experts from Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine and Tunisia took part in the Working Group meeting on Maritime Transport, the Plenary Meeting and the visit to the port of Barcelona.
The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views not only on the Maritime sector, but also on the entire transport and logistic domain. All UfM member states actively participated in the discussion and contributed to the progress review of the Regional Transport Action Plan 2014-2020. A new meeting is scheduled to take place in November 2019.
The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) is implementing SAFEMED IV project for technical assistance bringing together national, European and international stakeholders with the aim to raise the safety, security and protection of marine environment standards in the Mediterranean Sea, with a view to implement the maritime aspects of the UfM Regional Transport Action Plan 2014-2020.
