On 26 January Tunisia and the EU launched a ‘Support programme for professional training and integration’ (Programme d’Appui à la Formation et à l’Insertion Professionnelle – PAFIP) with a €3,000,000 grant. The EU Delegation in Tunis states that it “aims to improve the quality of training”.

An ‘upmarket move’ is thus intended, to ‘strengthen the connection between training and the labour market, by encouraging the resonance of the programme with the current economic environment’, the Delegation added.

It emphasizes that PAFIP has been designed “in perfect synergy and complementarity with a broader EU initiative, focusing on supporting the most disadvantaged regions: The Regional initiative to support sustainable economic development.”
