The Lina Ben Mhenni Prize for Freedom of Expression returns in its fourth edition. This award, created by the European Union, recognises the best articles defending the principles and values of democracy and of the freedoms and rights shared by Tunisia and the EU.

Created in 2020 as a tribute to the struggle of the late Lina Ben Mhenni, this competition aims to support and contribute to promoting quality written press in Tunisia.

The European Union also supports the Tunisian media through the Tunisian Media Support Programme (PAMT 2) and the Support for Independent Bodies in Tunisia project (PAII-T) of which the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA) is a part.

These are examples indicating the EU’s commitment to supporting the Tunisian media in providing free, independent and credible information.

For the EU, the freedom of the press is an invaluable treasure which must be protected along with its exponents.
