EuroMed Rights’ Migration and Asylum Programme is looking for a consultant researcher with expertise in the area of climate and migration, to produce an analysis of climate-induced migration in the Euro-Mediterranean region and the (lack of) regional legal frameworks to protect climate-displaced migrants.
The research is supposed to kick-start EuroMed Rights’ Migration and Asylum Programme’s work on the issue of climate migration, in line with one of its objectives under the 2022-2027 Strategy to include the issue of climate refugees in the European policy agenda. Therefore, it is supposed to provide an overview of key regional challenges, ranging from climate change and environmental degradation as multipliers of already existing issues that can act as root causes for displacement, to the (lack of) protection frameworks for climate-displaced migrants.
Output
The final output of the consultancy will be to produce a research report (approximately 20 pages).
The Consultant, in collaboration with EuroMed Rights’ Migration and Asylum team will be responsible to develop a research methodology, including first-hand and secondary data collection (desk research and interviews); preparing a first draft of the report and adapt it based on the revision and feedback received; submit the final version of the report.
