EU Commissioner Hahn to mark 40 years of EU in Jordan with a visit to the Kingdom

The European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn is visiting Jordan today to meet with HM King Abdullah II and members of the Jordanian Government.
Commissioner Hahn and Dr. Mohamad Al-Ississ, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, will sign the ‘Innovation for Enterprise growth and jobs’ – a €20 million-project that will help local innovative companies grow, produce better, and become more innovative and competitive in local and international markets. This project is part of the EU’s continuous efforts to promote initiatives that can unlock entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation in Jordan.
Also reaffirming the EU’s commitment to championing innovation and entrepreneurship, Commissioner Hahn will visit EU-funded Luminus ShamalStart – the leading business accelerator and seed investor in the north of Jordan.
In the evening of 24 June, the Commissioner will attend the Europe Day Reception to mark and celebrate 40 years of EU in Jordan. On 25 June, the Commissioner will lead a high level mission of International and European financial institutions and donors that will meet H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Omar Razzaz and the Government’s economic team, Jordanian private sector and civil society organisations to discuss support to Jordan socio-economic reform agenda.
Total financial EU support to Jordan amount to over €2.1 billion since 2011.
