The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and UN Habitat signed a Memorandum of Understanding, 7th November, in the framework of the opening of the Mediterranean City-to-City Migration High Level Conference taking place in Beirut, Lebanon, over the period of 7-8 November.

UN habitat is one of the two partners of the MC2CM project, for which ICMPD is in the lead. Both partners agreed to enhance cooperation, and consolidate their partnership, with the aim of contributing to better migration, specifically at city, local, national and regional levels, as well as globally.

ICMPD’s Director General Michael Spindelegger, who signed the MoU, made reference to the cooperation and partnership within the MC2CM project. He stated that in a visionary move, and aware of the potential impact that the increasing urban migration would have on the landscape of migration, ICMPD and UN Habitat were the perfect team to bring the role of the cities in the centre of the subject of migration. This team was then joined by UCLG, as the right partner, leading to a successful partnership between the three organisations.
