In an exciting collaboration that brings together history and modern technology, the Chamber of Beirut & Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML), partner in the iHERITAGE project in Lebanon, has joined forces with three prominent Lebanese universities. This special effort aims to enhance Lebanon’s cultural heritage by combining academic research on both tangible and intangible cultural cultural heritage with high-tech AR/VR tools. The Université Saint Joseph (USJ), the American University of Technology (AUT), and the School of Architecture & Design at the University of Kaslik (USEK) are all part of this exciting project to help bring together creative ideas from research and the latest technology to explore and celebrate Lebanon’s heritage.

The universities participating in this project are well-known for their teams’ expertise and skills. USJ, AUT, and USEK will collaborate with the iHERITAGE team to create new and innovative products and services, which will be designed and developed by specialists in AR/VR applications and game development. The outcomes of these three research collaborations will focus on the Byblos UNESCO site and will form the basis of the AR/VR apps and games, along with a series of accessible “co-publications” that will be available online for the general public.

Through the iHERITAGE project, the Chamber of Beirut & Mount Lebanon and the participating universities are making history exciting for everyone. By blending ancient stories with new technology, they are highlighting the importance of Lebanon’s past for its future.
