The Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and the EU-funded technical Assistance to Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme in Jordan (REEE II-TA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation and coordination between them, especially in the green energy sector.

The MoU aims to provide technical support to the energy and environment projects implemented by JOHUD and its Community Development Centres in various governorates. It also includes providing training for JOHUD staff in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as building its capacity in this field through the preparation of specialized training materials. The agreement aims as well to enhance JOHUD’s role in spreading awareness of renewable energy through its centres in the Kingdom, and introduce REEE II-TA activities and vision to highlight the EU efforts in this field.

REEE II is the second sector support programme to Jordan’s energy sector, with a €90 million budget, to continue to contribute to the development and implementation of effective policies that would help Jordan reach its renewable energy and energy efficiency (REEE) targets for 2020. It also aims at building national capacities of public, private and NGO institutions. JOHUD has been working for 40 years to lead national development efforts, alleviate poverty and empower communities in the Kingdom.
