The Mediterranean region is grappling with escalating marine pollution, stemming from various sources such as urbanization, tourism, and industrial activities along the Tunisian coastline. This pervasive pollution, encompassing chemical, biological, and plastic waste, poses significant threats to human health, ecosystems, and the economies of the region.

In response to this pressing challenge, BUSINESSMED has taken a proactive stance and organised its first activity linked the BlueMissionMed project . The project aims to curtail Mediterranean pollution by 30 to 50% by 2030, employing innovative technological, social, business, and governance solutions. A key component of this initiative is the establishment of a National Hub equipped with an interactive digital platform. This hub serves as a collaborative space, uniting stakeholders across the Mediterranean region to foster policy coherence, sustainable socio-economic development, an innovative ecosystem, and societal commitment to combat marine pollution.

The event featured engaging sessions and included workshops and discussions focused on combating marine pollution in Tunisia, with active participation from entrepreneurs, SMEs, and civil society. Discussions delved into the establishment of the National Hub, working methodologies, the organization of working groups, and strategic planning.

The discussions addressed marine pollution in Tunisia and in the region and the workshop aimed to inform and engage stakeholders in collaborative efforts to combat pollution. The overarching goal was to develop a shared national vision, serving as a catalyst for an ongoing, robust plan to minimize the impact of all forms of pollution, including plastic waste, within a reasonable timeframe. Central to this initiative is the establishment of the National Hub, an interactive platform bringing together key players from various sectors. This platform will provide valuable information and mechanisms to foster a positive dynamic focused on waste elimination and the reduction of marine pollution through innovative solutions and increased public awareness.
