On 29 March, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) signed a partnership agreement with the NATO affiliate Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) to provide technical assistance to Lebanese border authorities on civil-military cooperation related themes. The agreement was signed in the framework of the ICMPD project “Strengthening Capacity for Integrated Border Management in Lebanon”.

The agreement is a major milestone for both organizations in their long-standing efforts to support the Lebanese Security agencies in strengthening their capacities to effectively respond to the numerous challenges they are confronting. This will allow both entities to come a step closer to improving stability and security in Lebanon, particularly in border areas, with deployment of MNCG operator(s) to provide training and mentoring.

“Strengthening Capacity for integrated Border Management in Lebanon” is an EU-funded project, implemented by ICMPD. Its main objective is to enhance capacities of Lebanese authorities to control the borders while facilitating movement of goods and bona fide travellers through a rights-based approach.
