Alan Bugeja, Head of the European Union Delegation in Libya, has published today the following statement:

My thoughts are with the bereaved, the wounded, the tortured and abused, the abducted and arbitrarily detained, the displaced, the disenfranchised and all the people of Libya who have borne the brunt of the instability and conflict of recent years.
I make a heartfelt appeal to the parties in the senseless war on Tripoli, in the spirt of this holy time, to embrace the truce which Special Representative Salame is working to secure. This not only to bring much needed respite to the people most affected, but also as a first step towards ending the violence and returning to a political process.
