Six entrepreneurs and small business owners based in Sebha, Libya, have been awarded grants of up to US$40,000 to further develop their businesses. The awards are part of a “Re-Start-Up marathon” to rebuild and boost businesses that were affected by conflict or the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The EU-UNDP initiative will provide financial support, training and mentoring, and thus help the entrepreneurs reboost their businesses and even create up to 45 new jobs in Sebha.

The Re-Start-Up marathon is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Governance in Tripoli, Sabratha, Sebha, Murzuq, Benghazi, Ajdabiya and Al Kufra municipalities. The initiative is part of the EU-funded “Strengthening Local Capacities for Resilience and Recovery” project that aims to support local authorities to restore essential services delivery, community security and livelihoods opportunities.
