On the margin of the pre-COP meeting in Marrakech, the EU signed on Wednesday 19 October, a memorandum of understanding with Morocco’s National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), the Economic, social and environmental Council (EESC) and the General Confederation of Businesses (CGEM) to support the Moroccan non-state actors’ participation in combatting global warming, with a total budget of 10 million dirhams.

This support is part of the EU-funded programme “Civil Society Organisations and Local Authorities”, running over the period 2014-2020, which aims to promote partnerships and synergies between local actors in the fight against poverty and for sustainable development.

This agreement reaffirms the EU’s commitment to the fight against climate change, on the one hand, and its support to the Moroccan non-state actors and civil society on the other hand.(EU Neighbourhood Info)
