The EU police mission for the Palestinian Territories (EUPOL COPPS) and Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) have jointly organised a community policing workshop this week to listen to views from the PCP’s senior management on the issues that need to be taken into consideration while developing a Strategic Community Policing Concept for the PCP.

The high-level workshop was attended by seven Brigadier-Generals, Deputy Heads of EUPOL COPPS and Community Policing Advisers. An open discussion on strategic community policing issues followed, with comments and statements reflecting the workshop’s objectives.

This workshop was the first in a series of workshops designed to engage the PCP at the strategic, central and district level. The output from these workshops will be used as an input into another series of workshops with potential community policing partner groups from Civil Society. The overall purpose of facilitating these PCP and Civil Society workshops is to develop a strategic concept that will create a joint understanding of community policing among the participating stakeholders. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
